Infiltrant Wire

Infiltrant wire is the much-appreciated alternative to traditional powder metal (PM) copper infiltrants. These simple wire forms offer significant benefits over powder metal (PM) copper infiltrants.

The wrought/wire infiltration process melts high-specification copper alloys into sintered wire forms that are easy to handle and use.

Infiltrant wire eliminates the need to store and handle bulky powder drums, while offering cost savings from the elimination of tooling, compacting presses, labour and the overheads that are typically required to produce infiltrant slugs. It also removes the inventory and manufacturing losses associated with oxidation, contamination, segregation, residue and erosion.

A very visible application for copper wire is in decorative fastenings. Our alloys have excellent corrosion resistance and come in a range of colours that are unique in the world of metals.

Our customers demand the right colour of fastener or rivet to match the garment. The brass, antique brass or other colour is aesthetically matched to the corresponding garment.

If it’s a zipper, it needs to withstand a lifetime of operation, washing and detergents without failing and always looking great.

The material we supply is carefully selected to provide the right temper, grain size and alloy for the optimum performance in the stamping and forming process and ultimately on the item, whether a purse, jacket or your favorite pair of blue jeans.

In controlled applications our DSC tips have provided up to 5X the life of a standard DHP contact tip.
For many years, deoxidized phosphorus copper (DHP) was the preferred alloy for contact tips because of its low cost and availability - it is still in widespread use today. However, for more demanding applications requiring high wear characteristics and resistance to softening, other alloys can give a superior performance and are better suited for the most rigorous arc welding conditions.

Dispersion strengthened copper (DSC) tips are unsurpassed in quality and reliability. DSC tips will maintain their hardness at the highest temperatures and are extremely durable.
